Striving for the honor and recognition of our Veterans and Active Military

A Veteran is a Veteran every day. Pray for our active military and their families. Show respect, salute a Veteran!

In honor and with respect to veterans and active military, both in Dawsonville, Dawson County, and around the country, an annual Memorial Day Service is held at Veterans Memorial Park in Dawsonville.

The Veterans Affairs of Dawson County is dedicated to their goals of increasing recognition, honor, respect, and support of Dawson County’s veterans and active military, and to preserve the memory of veterans that paid the ultimate price.

Veterans Memorial Park in Dawson County Park was renamed “Veterans Memorial Park” in Spring 2007. Forthcoming enhancements of Veterans Memorial Park include the enhancement of the existing marble memorial wall, a pond-less fountain, marble benches, and The Walk of Honor brick commemoration project—a walkway of engraved bricks recognizing specific veterans and active duty military personnel.

Directions: From GA 400, follow Hwy 53 West into downtown Dawsonville until it intersects with Hwy 9 North — Turn right onto Hwy 9 North — Veterans Memorial Park is located about 1.5 miles on the left on Recreation Rd.

If you are a Dawson County resident, you may request a Veterans Memorial Marker in order to honor a deceased veteran. Please complete the application, and send to the address on the bottom of the form.
