February 2023 Employee Spotlight - Amanda Edmondson

Amanda Edmondson

Amanda Edmondson is excited to begin as the City of Dawsonville’s first Director of Downtown Development, Tourism & Historic Preservation.  Amanda is originally from Dacula, Georgia yet is a long time North Georgia resident after earning an MPA from the UGA School of Public and International Affairs with a focus in local government administration and public policy.  She has a Master’s Certificate in Historic Preservation from the University of Kentucky Graduate School and is passionate about local history, also holding a BA in History from Piedmont University.  Previously working for other Georgia counties with a focus in both long-range and current planning, Amanda is recognized as a Certified Planner by the American Planning Association (AICP).  Combining planning and design to promote quality of life, she also holds a Degree in Applied Science from Lanier Technical Institute specializing in Interior Architecture and served as owner and CEO operating a small business for 12 years.  Amanda is a Certified Local Government Financial Officer of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, and the recipient of a Project Management Professional Certificate from the University of North Georgia School for Continuing Education.  She serves on the Board of Directors for the Rainbow Children’s Home, is a wife, mom of two, member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, and outdoor enthusiast looking forward to being a part of the City of Dawsonville’s great future!
